List are the exception to the objects value remaining the same - 
List can hold values of all types of atomic data used within R - 
As well they are very common in R and should be understood -

One of the main differences in the way list index the contents is with the use of [[*]] Double Brackets -

In the example below we will concatenate numerous atomic objects represented by values

newlist <- list(1,"a", TRUE, 1+4i)

print(l)

[[1]]
[1] 1

[[2]]
[1] "a"

[[3]]
[1] TRUE

[[4]]
[1] 1+4i

As seen the index is represented with the double brackets and the single brackets now represent the values line in the index -
